Gazing skywards in terror, civilians in Gaza City watched as three drone strikes smashed into the apartment block to warn anyone too close that the knock-out blow was on its way. Moment later, an F-16 fighter jet roared overhead to drop the final missile that obliterated the building. A few minutes earlier, the owner of flats had been warned of the impending strike after the Israeli military phoned his son to tell them to evacuate immediately. Bashir al-Ramlawi, 58, scampered out with 35 members of his family who had already fled fighting in other parts of the Gaza moments before the attack. As the dust settled, he said: 'I don't know why they hit my house. We don't know where we will go.'
