'This is what you did to Reeva' says prosecutor showing grizzly pic to Pistorius

PARALYMPIAN Oscar Pistorius faced a grizzly picture of his model girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp today, as he started cross-examination with the prosecution.

During the hearing, the State lawyer Gerrie Nel fought to have a video of Pistorius shooting a watermelon submitted into evidence.
The video showed Pistorius and his friends on a firing range and the runner using a rifle to shoot a melon.
As the melon explodes, Pistorius says: "It's not as soft as brains, but f*** it’s a zombie stopper."
Nel, known as the 'pit bull' prosecutor, then told the court: "The same happened to Reeva's head, take a look."
TV screens in the court then showed a close-up of the gunshot wound to Ms Steenkamp's head, as Nel told Pistorius to 'take responsibility for his actions'.
The image had an obvious effect on Pistorius who buried his head in his hands, rocking back and forward trying to compose himself.
Both the judge and the defence lawyer Barry Roux objected to the grizzly comparison.

"I am tormented by that," Pistorius said.
"My fingers touched her head. I don't need to see a picture."
He then left the courtroom visibly distressed, accompanied by his psychologist.
The Blade Runner, 27, is accused of murdering Ms Steenkamp, 29, at his home on Valentine's Day last year, shooting her through a toilet door in the bathroom.
He admits to the shooting but insists he mistook her for an intruder.
Ms Steenkamp's mother June remained calm as the pictures were shown, as she did during the description of the shooting yesterday.
She apparently told local reporters during the recess that she understands the reason for showing her daughter's wounds.

Earlier, Pistorius testified to how he watched Ms Steenkamp die in her arms.
"I had her head on my left shoulder and could feel her blood was running down on me," he told the courtroom in Pretoria.
The runner went on to describe how he called Netcare, a South African healthcare company, and was told to call an ambulance immediately.
He added that he struggled to carry Ms Steenkamp outside and initially could barely lift her for fear of hurting her further.
As he waited for the ambulance to arrive, he was joined by the estate manager Johan Stander and his daughter.
Pistorius said he tried his hardest to stop his girlfriend from bleeding out.
He told the court: "I just waited for ambulance to arrive, felt helpless, had my fingers in her mouth to help her breathe…"
By the time the ambulance arrived, Ms Steenkamp had died.
