Germany's Mario Gotze scored in the 22nd minute of extra time, finally putting Germany ahead with just eight minutes to go (centre). It prompted wild celebrations among the German side (left) and their support team, as well as their fans in Brazil (top right) and at home. Argentina, whose star Messi (bottom right) failed to score form a free kick in the dying minutes were left in tears. In the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro stadium, fans included David Beckham who brought sons Brooyklyn, Romeo and Cruz., all wearing Argentina strips. Also in the crowd was Rihanna who said before the match that she was backing Germany.
