Mining in SPACE: Artist imagines what our solar system would look like if we tunnelled asteroids for energy and minerals

The concept images (pictured) were created by Californian artist Cuba Lee. He depicts how space miners will extract minerals from space rocks. Mr Lee's images shows large drills (pictured top left) and chambers that collect gas (pictured bottom left). Other images show office-style pyramid blocks (pictured top right) and crafts that generate energy (pictured bottom right). Asteroids in our SOLAR system contain millions of pounds worth of minerals and firms, including Planetary Resources, are looking to harness these materials in the near future.
