The F1 legend, 45, came out of a coma last month after his horrific skiing accident in December in the French Alps.
He is still recovering in a Swiss rehab clinic but yesterday it was revealed that he is due to return to his nearby mansion. The house has been transformed into a medical centre to care for him.
And neurosurgeons revealed they have been asked to implant a special microchip in his skull to help him walk and talk again.
The pioneering work by Croatian experts has been successful with other patients and they have been invited to try to help Schumacher.
Tribute
One Croatian schoolboy “started to walk after two months” following the op, said surgeon Dr Darko Chudy.
It is understood Schuey remains paralysed and communicates with his wife Corinna, 45, and children Gina-Maria, 17, and son Mick, 15, by fluttering his eyes. Doctors at the Lausanne clinic hope to have him sitting in an advanced electronic wheelchair controlled by his mouth within a few weeks.
Schumacher’s mansion in Gland, Switzerland, is said to have been overhauled by Corinna into a medical centre.
At the weekend she penned a tribute to fans shortly before the German Grand Prix.
She said: “This gives me the perfect opportunity to cordially thank you all for the good wishes and positive energies you keep sending to Michael.
“I have to say your sympathies blew us all away.”
