Patriotic... or just plain tacky? Here's just a few of the thousands of homes across England that are draped in the St George's Cross for the World Cup (but what will the neighbours say?)

Tomorrow, the wait will finally be over. After four years of hype, gossip and anticipation, England are back in the World Cup finals, and the sometimes embarrassing ritual of die-hard fans up and down the country is already in full swing. A pub in Jarrow, Tyne and Wear (top right), a house in Knowle West, Bristol, (middle) and a terraced-home in Southampton (top left) have all been draped in red and white in preparation for England's first game against Italy tomorrow night. Paul Skutela has also adorned his house in Whittlesey, Cambridgeshire, (bottom right) with a number of St George's Crosses while an entire street in Oldham, Greater Manchester, (bottom left) has been covered in bunting. The aim of their patriotic makeovers is to turn heads and become the talk of the town - but some always take it that step too far.
