The silly hat fan just couldn't contain his emotions when talking with US chat show icon Oprah Winfrey.
He has spent more than two decades carving out a career as a musical mogul, but Pharrell revealed that he is just a big softie at heart.
The singer/producer/fashion designer, who collaborated with Daft Punk for last year's hit Get Lucky, was overcome with gratitude for his followers after the unbelievable success of Happy, his most recent chart-topper.

Popularity of the upbeat tune was so strong that hundreds of fan-made versions of the music video were uploaded on to the internet.

Playing a selection of the amateur clips to the former N.E.R.D frontman, Oprah asked how the reception to his single made him feel.
Welling up under the enormous brim of his forest green fedora, Pharrell blubbed: "Why am I crying on Oprah?"
He said: "People were putting up their own version. It was like no longer my song.
