Duke and Duchess of Cambridge reveal they are 'saddened' to learn of the death of Camilla's brother Mark Shand as it emerges he hit his head as he went through a revolving door at a New York bar
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge said their thoughts were with Camilla and her family after receiving news of Mr Shand's accidental death in New York. The 62-year-old auctioneer, the younger brother of William's stepmother (pictured together, left), died in hospital after he was believed to have hit his head as he went through a revolving door (pictured, inset) at the Gramercy Hotel. He was put on life support but doctors could not save him and he died 12 hours later. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, pictured today, have this morning embarked on the last leg of their royal tour Down Under. They will spend two days in the Australian capital, Canberra.
