"Thank you to everyone who has stuck with us through this just know that we love you guys for it and it means the world."
The record-breaking boyband were caught in a media storm earlier this week after leaked footage showed Louis and Zayn allegedly smoking a "joint" while on tour in Peru.
The former X Factor finalists have called in their lawyers to find out how the clip found its way onto the Internet.
Louis is reported to have filmed the 15-minute clip using Google Glass.
In the video the heartthrob says: "So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days."
The band are concerned that a member of their "inner circle" may have betrayed them by leaking the video.
One Direction are due to perform at Manchester City's Etihad Stadium on Sunday night as part of their UK stadium tour.
